About Me

I left behind a career in the marketing and design industry to retrain as a Psychotherapist specialising in sleep. Alongside my work at The London Sleep Centre, I maintain a small private practice, providing short and long-term psychotherapy with clients across the globe.

As a UKCP accredited psychotherapist, as well as an MA in Mindfulness-based psychotherapy from The Karuna Institute. I have completed further training, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCBT), both at the University of Oxford and continue with ongoing professional development.

How I can help

I take a biopsychosocial approach to therapy, recognising that social, environmental, and cultural factors all play a part in our health and wellbeing. I work holistically, recognising that the mind and body are one.

I specialise in trauma, burnout, anxiety, and depression, particularly how they cause problems with sleep. Trauma is not only the things that happen to you; it's what happens inside of you when things happen to you. The body's innate wisdom is to keep you alive - keep you awake, so a large part of our work is about finding ways to slow things down. After all, sleep is the ultimate in letting go, and if you can't sleep, you need to understand what is going on.

As a sleep therapist, I work from an evidence-based process using CBTi and often expand outwards into the more significant questions of why we cannot sleep. CBTi is highly effective - studies have shown that approximately 72% of participants experience improvements with sleep. However, I am mainly focused on those who continue to experience problems. Many people that I see have tried everything to improve their sleep. My role as a psychotherapist is to explore what is going on. Working from a psychotherapeutic perspective supports us to work at a deeper activity level within the mind and body.

Sleep issues arise for many reasons. I often work with people to deepen into longstanding problems that manifest in poor sleep. I work with a mix of practices to meet your specific needs. To understand our own emotional lives and those of the people around us, we need a deeper connection, and one way to do this is through mindfulness and increased awareness of how it is to be in the world. It might be that we take a cognitive approach, working from the top-down, accessing your story through thoughts and words, or we may take a bottom-up approach and work with the feelings and sensations of what you are experiencing.

Whichever way we choose to work, I offer a safe place to explore and discuss the most difficult things, even hidden ones. I provide one-to-one support without judgment or criticism to support you in finding solutions and a way forward in life.

Sessions are conducted on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and last fifty minutes.
